The whole room is one material, warm off-white microcement rounded at every corner, and the furniture has to hold its own against that or vanish into it. The vanity does it with texture: a long chevron of fluted light oak, floating, with a white top and a round marble basin standing on the surface where the light from the arched window can model it. The mirror above is a tall rounded arch in thin black metal, the arch of the window repeated on the wall, and the only hard line in a room of curves. The towel stand is teak and stands free on the floor, so the towels themselves become part of the composition. Brass at the tap is the only metal, and it is unlacquered so it will dull. Nothing else hangs on the plaster, because in a room made of one continuous surface every object you add is a decision the wall has to answer.

A continuous shell of warm off-white microcement shapes this bathroom, sweeping across the floor and curving upward into the walls. Every corner is rounded, creating an interior defined by quiet light and subtle shadow. Placing furniture into a monolithic surface requires an exacting eye for weight and texture. Each element must claim its own presence while honoring the calm atmosphere of the plaster. The composition relies on three primary furnishings: a floating fluted oak vanity, an arched black metal mirror, and a freestanding teak towel stand. Grouped together, these pieces anchor the room, giving functional clarity to a space designed for daily restoration.

The Floating Oak Anchor

The center of the room belongs to the forty-eight-inch floating vanity. Built with light oak, its double doors carry a vertical fluted pattern cut in subtle chevron angles. This grooved surface catches shifting daylight, producing a fine rhythm of highlights across the wood grain. By hanging the cabinet directly from the wall, the floor plane remains visible beneath it, preserving the open floor area and letting the curved microcement corners show through clearly.

A solid white surface caps the vanity, providing a clean pedestal for the round marble basin. Positioned beneath the tall arched window, the stone vessel receives natural light directly across its curved rim, displaying the gentle variations of the natural marble. Flanked by unlacquered brass plumbing fixtures, the washbasin becomes a focal point of tactile materials. Unlacquered brass gains a soft, muted finish through regular handling and water exposure, aging into a deep golden tone that harmonizes with the honey hues of the oak below.

Architectural Balance in Black Metal

Above the oak cabinet, the wall mirror introduces a clean outline that organizes the vertical field. Framed in slender black metal, the mirror features a rounded top edge that directly mirrors the curve of the exterior window. This repetition grounds the wall layout in the architecture of the building itself.

The slim black metal creates the single sharp visual contour in an interior filled with softened edges. It provides a distinct boundary for the eye, separating the warm plaster background from the mirrored reflection. Placed at eye level, the mirror expands the soft daylight pouring into the room, reflecting the gentle tones of the surrounding surfaces and doubling the sense of openness around the sink.

Freestanding Teak and Functional Texture

Storage and linen display exist as free elements in the space. The forty-five-inch towel stand sits directly on the microcement floor, crafted from solid teak. Teak contains natural oils that adapt well to humid bathroom environments, providing durable utility and a warm, dense grain that enriches the color palette.

By positioning the towel stand away from the wall, everyday textiles become sculptural layers in the open room. A deliberate selection of materials keeps the room cohesive:

  • Warm light oak along the vanity front brings fine linear shadows.
  • Solid teak in the freestanding frame introduces dense grain and grounded weight.
  • Turned white marble in the round washbasin adds smooth mass.
  • Natural linen and waffle weave towels supply soft, absorbent texture.
  • Slender black metal provides crisp structure and definition.

Leaving the surrounding microcement walls bare keeps the visual weight balanced. When every surface forms one unbroken plane, every mounted fixture carries immense visual consequence. Keeping the walls clear around the mirror allows the organic variations of the troweled finish to act as their own understated backdrop.

Proportion and Unified Design

Designing a bathroom around a coordinated suite of vanity, mirror, and complementary storage creates an immediate sense of intention. The floating vanity establishes a generous horizontal base, the arched mirror draws the gaze upward toward the ceiling, and the teak stand grounds the opposite side of the composition. Every tone belongs to a tight family of warm neutrals, from the pale stone basin to the sandy floor and the golden oak panels.

The result is an interior that feels settled, warm, and complete. The room functions with practical simplicity, providing generous concealed storage behind the fluted cabinet doors and open access on the timber stand. By selecting pieces built with honest woods, authentic stones, and living metals, the space promises to grow richer with time and daily use.
